Introduction- Adhesive capsulitis is a painful and disabling disorder.Characterised by painful and limited global active and passive range of motion (ROM) of the shoulder joint.Self limiting condition. They exhibit a capsular pattern of restriction with external rotation being the most restricted.Reeves classification used for frozen shoulder.
Aim: To study was to evaluate the prevalence of diabetes in patients of adhesive capsulitis
Objectives:To study prevalence of diabetes in adhesive capsulitis and to study effect of glycaemia and overall glycaemic control in relation to development and outcome of adhesive capsulitis
Materials and methods-descriptive cross sectional study.Age group-40 to 70 years of age sample of 54 yrsd
study tool:The patients with adhesive capsulitis were diagnosed clinically and referred for investigations.Patients with no known history of diabetes were subjected to fasting and post prandial blood glucose.patients was assessed for pain and disability level with help a questionnaire based on the SHOULDER PAIN AND DISABILITY INDEX (SPADI)
Results:The prevalence of diabetes in patients with adhesive capsulitis was 68.51%. The prevalence of prediabetic patients was 25.92%. The total prevalence of diabetic condition in patients with adhesive capsulitis was 70.37 % .
conclusion:
Diagnosis of diabetes mellitus in patients with adhesive capsulitis who have been screened for abnormal GTT can alert us for more severe form of adhesive capsulitis and guide us towards more aggressive management of adhesive capsulitis.
